A world inspired by the vital force is a world that will give you more and better choices for your animal friends. Vitalism is an intellectual perspective. It is a way of looking at the world as if it were alive. Dr. Arthur Eddington, one of the pioneers in quantum mechanics, said, "the more I examine the world, the more it seems like a mind rather than a thing". To activate your vitalist self, look at the world as if it were imbued by a living spirit, as if it were a living being.
This perspective causes evidence to be viewed through a natural lens. The Problem With Dog Vaccinations From a vitalist's perspective, optimizing your dog's immunity means treating the immune system as if it were an intelligent part of an intelligent universe. Vaccines need to be treated with the greatest caution. They are not intelligent and here is why. (1) Vaccines are contaminated with known and unknown disease-causing substances. Among many toxic ingredients are: mercury, aluminum, animal serum, pus, formaldehyde, antibiotics, foreign animal tissues containing genetic material, ammonium sulfate, polysorbate 20 and 80, and many more.
These contaminants are known to disturb GI function and, ironically, immune competence. (2) Vaccines are poorly aimed because the diseases they point to are poorly defined. Scientific evidence for this charge comes from human studies. Take polio, for example. No strong correlation exists between the polio virus and the disease of polio. Almost everyone who contracted the polio virus before the advent of the polio vaccine became immune to the virus through natural immunity.
Only a tiny fraction of the population, those with weakened immune systems, got polio from the polio virus. Even were we to vaccinate only these individuals susceptible to polio, the benefits would still be highly questionable. In the 50 year interim between the discovery of the polio vaccine, the human population has developed a plethora of new polio-like diseases.
While the more obvious symptoms of polio have disappeared, other neuromuscular problems have appeared, like the epidemic of MS and Parkinson's. Likewise, most dogs that get Parvo survive. Some few, though, die quickly. While dog vaccines have made the more obvious symptoms of canine disease disappear, these have been replaced by an epidemic of seriously ill animals. Domestic animals have never been sicker.
The question for you, the dog owner, is, what course of action will give your dog the best chance to live the longest healthiest life? (3) Vaccines make a lot of money for everyone involved. The ability of people to justify their activities is in direct proportion to the profit they make from their activities. Half of all money made by pediatricians and veterinarians comes from vaccinations. Vets insist animals be vaccinated every year. As the next quote shows, this flies in the face of numerous studies showing animals can go as long as seven years between vaccinations with no reduction in immune competence.
"A practice that was started many years ago and that lacks scientific validity or verification is annual revaccination. Almost without exception there is no immunologic requirement for annual revaccination. Immunity to viruses persists for years or for the life of the animal. Furthermore, revaccination with most viral vaccines fails to stimulate an anamnestic (secondary) response. The practice of annual vaccination in our opinion should be considered of questionable efficacy." How about all the evidence vets use to scare owners into over vaccinating? Vets make their case for as many vaccines as possible as often as possible from the figures gathered from veterinary statistics. Yet, these are the least reliable of all. Why? Vets have even less motivation to report adverse events than MDs. The National Vaccine Information Center (NVIC, a grass roots organization founded by parents of vaccine-injured and killed children) has conducted its own investigations of under reporting by doctors. NVIC reported: "In New York, only one out of 40 doctor's offices confirmed that they report a death or injury following vaccination.
" In other words, 97.5% of vaccine related deaths and disabilities go unreported in New York. Adverse event reporting for humans is mandated by law! Still, these findings suggest that vaccine deaths and serious injuries actually occurring may be from 10 to 100 times greater than the number reported. We can assume the reporting of adverse events by vets is even more flawed.
Conflicts of interest are the norm in the vaccine industry. Members of the FDA and CDC vaccine advisory committees own stock in drug companies that make vaccines; individuals on both advisory committees own patents for vaccines under consideration or affected by the decisions these committees make. (4) Vaccine Benefits Are Not Clear Bart Classen, MD, PhD, founder of Classen Immunotherapies and developer of vaccine technologies, conducted epidemiological studies around the world and found vaccines to be the cause of 79% of insulin type I diabetes in children under 10. You can assume animals bodies react similarly.
In fact, dogs are getting diabetes in record numbers. Moreover, not all breeds react the same to vaccines. Vets know German shepherds, rottweilers and poodles are at higher risk for adverse vaccine reactions, as are older pets. Is the trade off for the protection of vaccines worth the escalating rate of cancer, diabetes, IBS, and all the other newly acquired diseases for domestic canines? Is there any connection between the almost universal hip dysplasia in shepherds and vaccines? No one knows the answers to these questions. Long-term studies on the negative effects of vaccines are virtually non-existent. What Can You Do? (1) Get the minimum number of vaccines allowed by law.
Over-vaccination has been suspected in causing tumors in some cats and immune problems in dogs. If you're getting your pet vaccinated, here's a simple plan. Stick to the legally mandated: rabies, distemper, and parvovirus. Then wait as long as legally possible before immunizing your dog again. (2) Recognize that life is inherently dangerous. All you can do is to calculate the odds.
Vaccinating your dog is no guarantee against sickness and suffering as the innumerable cases of dogs with cancer and many other life-threatening diseases attest. Likewise, avoiding vaccinations has its own dangers. (3) The smartest course is to support your dog's immune system before, during, and after vaccination with high quality foods, and natural immune adjuvants, such as colostrum, lactoferrin, and probiotics.
